The University of New Mexico

Established in 1994, the University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is the largest academic health complex in the state. Located on the University of New Mexico campus in Albuquerque, New Mexico, the HSC combines its four mission areas - education, research, patient care and partnership - to provide New Mexicans with the highest level of health care.

The UNM Health Sciences Center is made up of the following academic and clinical entities:

Central New Mexico Community College is New Mexico's largest and most comprehensive community college. In over 40 years it has built a reputation for preparing citizens of the New Mexico community for rewarding careers in a variety of industries, services and occupations, while programs continue to grow and evolve to provide workforce and career-technical training for New Mexicans.

CNM hosts five locations across the Albuquerque metropolitan area: the Main Campus is near downtown and the University of New Mexico; Montoya Campus in the northeast heights; the South Valley Campus; the Westside Campus; and the CNM Workforce Training Center.

 

CNM BIOTECHNOLOGY Program

School of Health, Wellness & Public Safety - Associate of Science Degree in Biotechnology

Program Description
The biotechnology program prepares students for employment in the biotechnology industry and in facilities conducting research and development. The field of biotechnology represents a wide range of interrelated activities that includes DNA/protein analysis, biomanufacturing, bioprocessing, bioinformatics and proteomics. The applications of biotechnology include pharmaceuticals, agriculture, the diagnosis and treatment of disease, vaccines, forensics and bioremediation. Students will attain knowledge and laboratory skills in molecular biology, recombinant DNA, immunology, protein purification and tissue culture.
The program provides classroom and hands-on laboratory learning experiences. Students will also participate in a supervised internship at laboratory facilities during the final term of the program.
