Philip Lister, PhD NMBio Board Member Dean of Math, Science, Central New Mexico |
Dr. Lister graduated with the B.S. in Microbiology from Kansas State University and his Ph.D. in Medical Microbiology and Immunology from Creighton University. Philip remained at Creighton University as a Professor within the Schools of Medicine and Pharmacy from 1992 to 2011. During this tenure at Creighton, he also served as Associate Director for the Center for Research in Antimicrobials and Biotechnology. Philip’s research focused on the molecular mechanisms of antibacterial resistance and pharmacodynamics of antibacterial drugs, with an emphasis on identification of novel combinations to slow the emergence of drug resistance. Philip served on grant review study sections for the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease, and Center for Disease Control, including serving as Chair of SBIR/STTR study sections. Philip also served as Editor of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy from 2002 to 2012 and on the Editorial Boards for Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, Clinical Microbiology Reviews, European Journal of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases, and Journal of Infectious Disease Pharmacotherapy. After retiring from Creighton University in 2011, Philip joined the Biology faculty at Central New Mexico Community College and was selected Dean of Math, Science and Engineering in Spring 2020. During his tenure as Dean, Philip has focused on workforce development, building partnerships with workforce community, supporting workforce needs, and building opportunity pathways for students to secure internships and careers in Biotechnology and other disciplines. |
