Join us to hear our panel of experts give you the information you need to work with government and industry incentives.  Our panel includes Victor Esch, CEO of NanoMR to give you a biotech company perspective, Bobbi Kay Nelson of Moss Adams to provide tips on working with government incentives, and Lori DuBoise to provide information on working with industry.

Speaker Bios:

Lori DuBoise, CPA: In 1999 Ms. DuBoise founded her own CPA practice specializing in assisting high tech start-up companies. She has assisted in the analysis of initial organization to determine which type of company to organize (C-corp, S-corp, LLC, Partnership) to assisting in the recruitment and hiring process of a full time Controller or CFO once the company has grown. Other accomplishments include all aspects of the financial responsibilities from establishing and maintaining banking relationships, payroll, taxes, benefits including retirement plans, accounting system set up and transition, New Mexico tax credits, budgeting and planning, relationships with investors, and due diligence for acquisitions. Ms. DuBoise’s clients have included bio tech start-ups, electronic engineering company, contract manufacturer, software development companies, corporate wellness technology and an avionics start up.

Dr. Victor Esch, CEO, NanoMR: Dr. Esch has successfully led product development in diverse organizations, from venture funded start-ups, to large integrated programs with more than 100 engineers and $100MM budgets. His diverse practical technical experience spans many disciplines, from interventional neuro catheters to free-space laser communication, and he has made significant contributions in these diverse areas. He has 23 issued patents, and more than 20 applications in prosecution. He received his PhD in Optical Sciences in 1990. Dr. Esch is presently CEO of nanoMR, a company developing a device for the detection of pathogens in blood, to address the blood culture market. He was Director of Research and Development at Indigo Medical, responsible for all product development. Indigo was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 1996. Following this he was CTO of EndoVasix, a company that produced an ischemic stroke treatment system. Endovasix was eventually acquired by W.L. Gore. Dr. Esch is a co-founder of PowerVision, a company successfully developing an accommodating intra-ocular lens to treat presbyopia. Dr. Esch’s design innovations have been honored by R&D 100 and Photonics Circle of Excellence.

Bobbi Kay Nelson, CPA: Bobbi Kay is the SALT practice leader for the Moss Adams Southwest Region, which includes both our Albuquerque and Phoenix offices. With more than 25 years of experience in public accounting, Bobbi Kay provides technical support in both the federal and state tax arenas, researching strategies for tax minimization. In addition, Bobbi Kay has worked with multi‐million dollar companies to provide technical guidance, consultative services, and refund claim opportunities involving New Mexico Tax Credits and Incentives, as well as personal property tax assistance. She is a licensed CPA in the state of New Mexico and the state of Arizona.
