The Knowledge Fair will showcase the research and talent of the region’s emerging bioscience firms that are on the verge of breakout success. It will highlight the work of tech transfer offices as well as provide detailed information on economic incentives offered by the public and private sectors.

Attendees will learn about efforts by the NM Bioscience Authority to create a $100 million Bioscience Endowment Fund and a $25 million direct Bioscience Investment Fund that will help accelerate the growth of the biotech, pharmaceutical, medical device, drug discovery, value added agriculture and diagnostic industries throughout New Mexico.

With our common vision and shared values, NMBio and its committed partners, including the NM Economic Development Department, Los Alamos and Sandia National Labs, UNM-HSC, TriCore Reference Labs, The Bioscience Center, STC-UNM, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, The New Mexico Bioscience Authority, Santa Fe Business Incubator, NM Tech, NMSU and CNM, will offer small and mid-size firms unparalleled networking opportunities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with speakers from VIOME, Vision Quest Diagnostics, Agilvax, NTxBio, Socorro Therapeutics, Sandia Biotech, Bio Direction, NeXStep, Inc., and Pebble Labs as well as with service providers from VWR, US Bank, AWS Pharmaceuticals, NCGR and many others manning table top exhibits.

The leaders from these organizations as well as the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) and NMBio’s service providers from the scientific equipment, CRO, venture capital, legal, financial, insurance, private equity, technology, academic, and other sectors will provide essential and practical information on how their firms can assist NMBio’s core members in finding effective tools and solutions for capital, employee training programs, office and lab locations as well as other pressing business needs.

Richard Prince, the President and CEO of New Jersey-based Now Biopharma, LLC, a boutique Clinical CRO (phase 2,3,4. acute care trials) and Product Development/Operations Consultancy in the life science space will be our keynote speaker. He has been assisting NM Tech for the last 15 months on the launch of its promising Oncology start-up, Socorro Therapeutics. He’ll become its CEO this fall. In addition, he is co-editor and an author of a 1,000 page book that has just been published– Biotechnology: From Idea to Market. With a Foreword by Nobel Laureate Philip Sharp, the book features chapters written by subject matter experts that, collectively, illuminate and unify the healthcare products innovation process spanning from academia to industry, from research to commercialization. The text is now being used to teach students about biotechnology entrepreneurship at Harvard University, and it promises to become a standard text at many other leading academic institutions worldwide.
