Capital raising in the life science environment remains volatile. Per PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association, US venture capital funding for the life sciences sector declined 27% by value and 15% by volume just over a year ago. But the demand to innovate within the life sciences industry remains incredibly strong and with $10.1 billion invested in 783 deals in 2015. The life sciences industry was the second most invested industry (software was the leader).

Quality Healthcare and Life Science companies continue to attract investor interest. Despite a slowing level of transaction activity in the first half of 2016, capital is available. Many industry sources expect continued improvement of transaction activity through 2017 and Healthcare and Life Sciences transactions will continue to represent a sizeable proportion of completed deals.

As many entrepreneurs and companies evolve, it is important to know the various phases and strategies within the investment environment, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of each.

NMBio’s May seminar will help bring light to various investment strategies as we welcome Dr. Richard D Gill of Launchpad Venture Group and Board Director of TruTouch Technologies, Cognoptix, Spherium BioMed & LRRI, to speak during our luncheon series.

Additionally, Dr. Gill has led several companies such as BTGUSA, Genome Therapeutics, ActiveCyte, AnVil, Signet Laboratories, ProNAi Therapeutics & TruTouch through rounds of funding, commercialization, FDA submissions & IPOs. NMBio is grateful for his desire to share his experience and knowledge with our membership and any other interested attendees.
